Matthew Mcconaughey, Nicolas Winding Refn Steer Lincoln Campaign | Boston Herald

The campaign’s launch is timed with this weekend’s Emmys broadcast. McConaughey will arrive to the show in an MKC, Lincoln’s first foray into the smaller luxury SUV segment, dominated by the likes of Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. In the first spot, McConaughey speaks of his love for long two-day drives in Texas in his down-to-earth manner that’s made him seem so approachable and appealing to audiences over the years. “Lincoln’s a classic, iconic American brand that’s now making the transformation into the luxury market, and after driving the MKC I think they’re doing a good job of that,” he says in the ad.Letting McConaughey essentially play himself helped Lincoln land the actor.

The idea for Getaround, a peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace, was born. The pair teamed with former Googler Elliot Kroo to create prototypes of an iPhone app and in-car hardware, Getaround Connect , which provides renters with access to cars and compiles diagnostics and tracking information. With the technology in development, the team focused on overcoming a major hurdle prior to launch: making prospective members comfortable with sharing their vehicles. “When we were coming up with [the idea], people loved it; they thought it made a ton of sense, it could have a big impact, there was a need for it,” Scorpio says.

Cadillac considers leaving Detroit for Manhattan

“As Cadillac grows, it’s possible we could look to add to our team or expand,” said Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell. “But as of now, no changes.” Gabriel Bouys | AFP | Getty Images De Nysschen, in his previous role as head of Nissan Motor’s Infiniti brand, engineered a relocation of that unit from Yokohama to Hong Kong, in part to give the Infiniti team more autonomy from the Japanese parent and the opportunity to explore new ways to expand in global markets. GM has been on a similar quest to expand 112-year-old Cadillac, one of the world’s oldest surviving brands, beyond its home base, while resurrecting Cadillac’s earlier status as one of the world’s top luxury marques. De Nysschen, the brand’s third leader in two years, has not disclosed how he plans to revive Cadillac.

Welcome to the millennialization of the Old World auto business. You cant force [young buyers] to go through your 10-step sales process, said Ken Schnitzer, chairman of Dallas-based Park Place Dealerships, which owns the Mercedes dealership under construction in South Arlington. You adapt to theirs. The young general manager at Mercedes-Benz of Arlington, 36-year-old Hesham Elgaghil, said he doesnt expect his dealership to function much differently than Park Place Motorcars near the Park Cities and Preston Hollow. But, he said, the average customer at his store is likely to be younger and less wealthy, and the dealership will have a younger feel than other Mercedes facilities.
